Las Vegas has always measured itself in
superlatives…biggest, brightest, boldest. Lately,
though, the most coveted real estate isn’t on The
Strip but several hundred feet above it, where
cocktails, thrill rides, and flight paths compete
for the title of best view in town.
Start with a drink at altitude. Ghostbar, 55
stories up at the Palms, pairs its cocktails with
360-degree views and a glass-floored Ghostdeck
that dares you to look straight down. Downtown,
Legacy Club crowns Circa’s 60th floor with
floor-to-ceiling windows, where a build-yourown Old Fashioned comes with a vault’s worth
of gold bars, 500 of them, while all of Fremont
Street glitters below.
For those who prefer their altitude with
adrenaline, SkyJump at The Strat drops
jumpers from the 108th floor in a bungee-style
controlled descent: 829 feet, speeds past 40
miles per hour, and one Guinness World Record.
Maverick Helicopters offers a smoother ride,
lifting off from Las Vegas Boulevard to sweep
the neon corridor by night or push on to the
Grand Canyon for a champagne landing.
FlyOver, right on The Strip, keeps your feet
dangling and your boarding pass metaphorical.
Riders bank and glide over the American West in
front of a 52-foot spherical screen, while wind,
mist, and scent effects handle the rest. The Strip
will still be there when you land, sparkling just
as brightly as you left it. See Las Vegas from such
great heights once, and ground level never quite
