DINING
A Feast
of Fortune
If you were born in 2014, 2002, 1990, 1978,
1966, 1954, or 1942, you’re in luck. According
to the Chinese zodiac, 2026 is the Year of the
Horse—and it’s your year to shine. Lunar
New Year officially begins Tuesday, Feb. 17,
with celebrations (and plenty of eating)
lasting 15 days. Around Las Vegas, these
three restaurants serve classic good-luck
dishes: dumplings for wealth, noodles for
longevity, and prawns for laughter and
vitality.
Eat more noodles and live a long,
prosperous life. At China Mama (Shanghai
Plaza in Chinatown), order the Braised Beef
Noodle Soup, Szechuan Tan Tan Noodles,
Singapore-style fried vermicelli, or beef
chow fun to fulfill the prophecy.
At Hakkasan’s Dim Sum Brunch (MGM
Grand), held Saturdays and Sundays, work
your way through an extensive dumpling
lineup that includes shumai, seafood har gau,
edamame jade dumplings, chicken pot
stickers, crispy prawn dumplings, and
drunken wontons—and watch your good
fortune multiply with every bite.
Laugh your way into Lunar New Year at
Genting Palace (Resorts World). Feast on
prawns, oysters, crab legs, whelks, and
scallops at the Lunar New Year buffet,
offered Friday evenings and Saturday and
Sunday for lunch and dinner, from Feb. 13–15
and Feb. 20–22.
