a dazzling 16K upgrade—courtesy of Sphere Las
Vegas. Debuting August 28, The Wizard of Oz at
Sphere invites audiences down the yellow brick
road like never before. Originally released on
August 25, 1939, the film was created for a 4:3
screen format. Now, with advanced AI
upscaling, it will fill Sphere’s massive
160,000-square-foot interior display. Don’t
forget a hanky—Judy Garland’s “Somewhere
Over the Rainbow” will echo through 167,000
programmable speakers, powered by Sphere
Immersive Sound. Hold on tight: infrasound
and haptic technology will deliver tremors,
vibrations, and low-frequency effects that make
the journey to the Emerald City feel as real as
Dorothy’s…and just as unforgettable.
